Ever wondered what beauty products you would want in your bag, should you ever find yourself stuck on an island? The thought never occurred to me until my husband convinced me to watch the entire series of Lost on Netflix a few years ago. That show was so crazy to me!
Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I typically fly with a good bit of my makeup in my carry-on (I never check my makeup for fear of damage). So, if I were to survive a plane crash, and just so happen to land on an island, I would definitely have enough products to do a full face for at least a month. Yes I travel with a lot of makeup. I need options. Don’t judge me.
To spice up this post, let’s say I survived this plane crash and I could only keep 3 products. . . I’ve listed below the 3 products I would keep, and why:
- Waterproof Mascara
- Brow Pencil
- Lip Gloss/Moisturizing Chapstick
I put a lot of thought into this list, y’all. Not only did I come up with these items, I specifically chose the brands of each product I would want because reliability is KEY when you can’t run down the street to Sephora, you feel me?

First things first – mascara! I’ve used a lot of mascara in my day! (going back to 6th grade with that clear mascara momma let me wear) Typically, when I find a mascara that I love, I will try the waterproof version if there’s one available. You never know when you might need a trusty waterproof mascara, right? Anywho, the best, and I mean B E S T, waterproof mascara I have ever used is Lancome Monsiuer Big. I’m sure that’s no surprise considering how much I love the original Monsiuer Big. What makes their waterproof mascara so great is that 1. it truly is WATER PROOF, 2. it isn’t waxy and heavy like a lot of waterproof mascaras tend to be, 3. it actually washes off like a dream – which is nice considering some waterproof mascaras can be so difficult to remove, it damages your lashes; YIKES! I definitely recommend checking this product out next time you’re in the market!

The second product is a brow pencil. The obvious reason for choosing a brow pencil is to give my otherwise shapeless, CLEAR eyebrows, a hint of color and a shape. But there’s actually another reason for choosing a brow pencil, specifically the NYX Precision Brow pencil. In a pinch, a brow pencil can be a stand-in for eye liner! This particular product is so smooth and creamy. It applies so effortlessly, without a lot of pressure needed for color payoff. This feature would be key in using it as an eyeliner, because you wouldn’t want to pull the skin on your eyes trying to apply it.

The third product I would want with me on the island is some sort of moisturizing chapstick or a lipgloss. In the past I feel like I would have had to choose one or the other, until Kopari blessed us all with a double-duty lip gloss that also moisturizes. Frankly, I think it moisturizes better than most chapsticks! The product I’m referring to is Kopari Coconut Lip Glossy. Not only does this product leave my lips feeling so soft and hydrated, but it smells like a mix between vanilla birthday cake and a piña colada – perfect for an island vacation, or in this case, island survival staycation, ha!
There ya have it! My top 3 picks for being stranded on an island. . . let me know in the comments below what products you would choose – I’d love to hear from you!
Cheers!
